My thought process was that post-partum bleeding is usually related to the uterus, and much of the pelvic viscera is supplied by branches of the internal iliac artery.

if postpartum bleeding does not stop you can ligate the internal iliac but you should remember that reproduction is not compromised because the ovarial artery provides a collateral. FA 2020 P 641
