Neutrophils initiate the respiratory burst. So why wouldn't cyclooxygenase be the answer since that creates LTB4 which is a chemotactic for neutrophils.

NADPH oxidase initiates the respiratory burst (FA2020 p109) which is vital for appropriate intracellular killing of phagocytosed organisms.
