The classic triad of a renal cell carcinoma is: 1) hematuria; 2) flank pain; and 3) a palpable flank mass.
The classic RCC comes from a VHL mutation. No VHL means you can't inhibit HIF (hypoxia inducible factor). This leads to uncontrolled activation of VEGF, leading to the hypervascular mass.
