Megaloblastic anemia occurs in impaired DNA synthesis, most commonly related to folate or vitamin B12 deficiency.
Folic acid deficiency leading to anemia is faster to develop than B12 deficiency in malnutrition, given that the body's reserve of folate is less extensive than that of vitamin B12.
